Pageant Challenge 2007 One of the greatest aspects of the Owensboro Easter Pageant has been our ability to share the gospel in a compelling and believable way. We have seen hundreds of people experience the message of Christ’s life, death and glorious resurrection during the past four years and we anticipate once again presenting the salvation message to over 6,000 people. However, if the pageant ministry is going to reach its potential, then each one of us must become involved in sharing the message. As in each of the previous years, we want to challenge our congregation to join us for Pageant Challenge 2007! This year we are broadening our vision for those we are seeking to invite. Neighbors – We want to encourage each of you to look throughout your neighborhood and invite your neighbors to attend this year’s pageant. What a great way to evangelize our community for Christ! FBC Members – This may sound strange to you until you realize that there are over 600 resident members of our church who do not regularly attend. We have a mission field in our church family! Begin praying for and finding opportunities to invite them to the Owensboro Easter Pageant. Acquaintances – This will involve all those we come in contact with on a daily basis...co-workers, friends, family members and other people that God lays on your heart, especially those who do not know Christ. God is desiring for all to come and experience His love. So join us in Pageant Challenge 2007 and invite someone to experience “The Ultimate Miracle.” How to invite someone to the pageant: Prayer - Even before you invite your guest to the pageant, begin praying for God to work in your life and theirs. Invitation - Look for the best opportunity to ask someone. Asking at the appropriate time is one of the best ways to receive a yes answer! Ideas for Asking - "How does your family celebrate Easter?" "Do you enjoy plays and musicals?" "What are you doing Easter weekend?" Confirmation - Arrange a time and place to meet or offer to pick up your guest at home. Secure your guests ticket. Call the day before or the day of the date you plan to attend to confirm your arrangements. A wonderful way to share Christ is by inviting your guest to your home after the pageant for coffee or dessert. This will provide an informal setting for you to discuss the themes of the pageant and answer any questions the guest has. You can also share how the message of the pageant has affected you personally. Then use this outline to lead them to Christ: Ask the question - Are you at a point in your life where you realize you need a relationship with Christ? God's Purpose - God's purpose is that we have eternal life (John 3:16). Our Need - Sin separates us from God (Romans 3:23). God's Provision - God loves us and provides forgiveness for our sin (John 14:6). Our Response - We need to commit ourselves to the Lord by repenting of our sin (Acts 3:19). Place your faith in Jesus (Ephesians 2:8). Surrender to Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9-10). Prayer of Commitment - Have a time of prayer together to ask for forgiveness and to accept Christ as Lord and Savior. If your friend or family member makes a decision to accept Christ or to rededicate his or her life, please notify one of your ministers. |
